Analytics-App

What is it?#

App Analytics incorporated on mobile applications in conjunction with the Resul Smart Link can be a valuable source of behavioural information such as:-

  • Traffic source
  • Screens viewed
  • Time spent per screen
  • User interaction at each screen
Integration with app analytics enables Resul to provide a broad range of analytics used across a number of modules such as communication analytics, Audience 360, and the Dashboard. This information is also utilized to refine communications, web pages, and customer journeys.

Three-step process#

Setting up app analytics follows a three-step process.

  1. Setup a data connector to integrate the relevant App Analytics platforms and domain using the Data exchange section under Preferences.
  2. Configure analytics setting the relevant primary goal for a Single dimension, Event trigger, or a Multi dimension communication.
  3. Then track at the individual level by optionally using the Resul Smart Link as part of the communication. Please refer to Creating a smart link, for more information.

Accessing communication analytics configuration#

To configure analytics for a communication:-

  1. Access "Add a communication" through the communication module.
  2. Select Single dimension delivery method.
  3. Tick analytics types checkbox in the communication plan stage.
    Note: In order to view analytics for engagement/conversion set it up as the primary goal for the communication on the plan page.
  4. Select the analytics channel type and select App.

Configuring communication analytics#

To set up App analytics, follow these steps:

  1. Select an analytics platform from the drop-down list, displaying all the analytics platforms integrated through the Data exchange section under Preferences.
  2. Select a mobile platform from the drop-down list, displaying those integrated along with the analytics platform. If you have generated a smart link linking to an app-screen this information will pre-selected and un-editable.
  3. Select a mobile application from the drop-down list, displaying those integrated along with the analytics platform. If you have generated a smart link linking to an app-screen this information will pre-selected and un-editable.
  4. Setup engagement or conversion tracking by selecting a screen and a sub-screen from the dropdown. If you have generated a smart link linking to an app-screen this information will pre-selected and editable.
  5. Alternatively, set up field tracking to track complex user actions for your conversion goal by clicking on the field track icon and follow the steps below.
    • Open the mobile application in your cell phone and browse the app screen and sub-screen that you would like to track.
    • Flip your phone 6 times as shown in the screen and enter the server authentication code to establish a connection with the resul platform.
    • Your cell phone app screen will now be mirrored in the resul platform.
    • Choose from a variety of user actions on this app screen to set it up as the conversion event for the communication.
    • Enter an event name and mark the check as goal box and click Add.
    • Click "Save" to finish the set-up process.
  6. Proceed to the next stage in the communication creation process.
    There are 4 options to proceed:
    • Click "Save" to save the current input and return to the communication-list. All mandatory fields on the current screen must be completed to save successfully. The platform will highlight any missing mandatory information.
      The communication will be saved as "Draft" if it is a new communication. If the user has been editing a "Draft" or "Scheduled" communication, the communication state does not change.
    • Click "Next" to save the current input and proceed to the next step which is sequenced as follows:
    • All mandatory fields on the current screen must be completed and the platform will highlight any missing mandatory information.
    • The input screen for the next channel type selected during the planning step is displayed.
    • If setup for all channel and analytics types selected have been completed, the communication Execution screen (pre-communication analytics) is displayed.
  7. Click on another channel type. Only channel types selected during the communication planning stage will be available. Input for the current channel type is discarded unless the user clicks "Save" or "Next".
  8. Click "Cancel" to return to the communication-list screen. Any current input since the last time "Next" button was clicked is discarded.
